Standard Home Stay

Staying with a family is the best way to find out about family life in Gozo. Learn about the history of Gozo, its traditions, culture and food from the people that live there. Also, have plenty of time to practise your new English skills outside the classroom.

Students who opt for standard home stay will be hosted by a Gozitan family, which may be a typical ‘family’ of husband, wife and children, or a couple. 

Students are treated as though they are a member of the household and are expected to adapt to the home stay life and routine. Most host-families are open-minded, helpful, and friendly. On your first day, the family will introduce you to the household: keys, meals, etc and also provide you with information on the locality. The families provide bed sheets & towels and weekly cleaning.
 

Superior Home stay

This type of accommodation is the same as standard home stay, except that the student has exclusive use of bedrooms of a higher standard.  This is suitable for students who are prepared to pay extra to have private comforts.  Rooms may have private bathrooms and also air-conditioning, at an extra cost. We also have families who are used to welcoming the more mature business executive or professional person.

BELS Residence (country side) Triq il-Bies, Kercem.

This is a large town house located in a quiet street, a few minutes walk from school. The premises fall in the 'comfort' category (Malta Tourism Authority). All six private bedrooms are spacious, bright, airy and well furnished. The rooms on offer are available for double (queen & king size beds), twin and single use. All bedrooms are supplied with a fan in summer and a heater in winter, for added comfort. Bed linen & towels are supplied and changed once weekly. Sharing facilities include a sitting/dining area, a well-equipped kitchen, a bath room and a shower room. A TV and telephone are available in the sitting/kitchen area. Outdoor facilities include a garden and sun terraces.

Getting to school
This accommodation is about 6 minutes walk from school, a 2 minute walk from the village centre of Kercem and a 20 minute walk from the capital Victoria.

Countryside Self-catered apartments - BELS Apartments

This is a block of 4 self-catered apartments that are located in a quiet street, about a 5 minute walk from the school. All units are two bed-roomed and enjoy wonderful country views from good sized terraces.

Every unit includes bedrooms, sitting/dining room facilities, a well-equipped kitchen, a shower/bath room. Other facilities include a fan in summer and gas heater in winter. Linen and towels are changed once weekly.

Units are available for sharing and single use and are available all year round.

Getting to School

This accommodation is less than a 5 minute walk from school, a 3 minute walk to the village centre of Kercem and a 25 minute walk to the capital Victoria.
 

Countryside Self-catered apartments - Torri Kercem

This is a 200 year old farmhouse style building, restored and converted into a complex comprising of nine independent units, set within its own gardens and connected to the school via a pool deck.  Each of the units has an independent entrance through the main central court yard.

Every unit includes a sitting/dining room finished with Gozitan antiques, a well-equipped kitchen, a private bath/shower room and a balcony/window or a terrace/patio overlooking the gardens, enjoying country views. Other facilities include a fan in summer and gas heater in winter. Linen and towels are changed once weekly.

Units are available with the following options: studio & twin.

This accommodation option is only available between April/May and October/November, as the remaining months are rainy and since the building is an old one it tends to become humid and hence not comfortable for some clients who are not used to the humidity. This is the only reason we do not use it all year round and as our second option.

This accommodation is next door to the school, a 3 minute walk to the village of Kercem and a 25 minute walk to the capital Victoria.
 

Sea-side Self-catered apartments - Aparthotel

The sea-side apartments are in Xlendi, they are two minutes away from the sea-front. All areas of the Aparthotel are easily accessible to persons with special needs.  These accommodation options are available all year round.
The Studios are double rooms equipped with a kitchen/dining room. Other amenities are air-conditioning / heating units, flat screen T.V with 16 international channels. Direct dial telephones, room safe, and an internet connection (supplied on request at an extra cost). Bathrooms are equipped with a bath / shower, shaver plug and hairdryer.  Each Studio can accommodate up to 2 persons.

The 1 Bedroom Apartments have a double bed room and a sofa in the living room that can be converted into a double bed, thus accommodating 4 persons comfortably. The unit also comprises a kitchenette and dining area. Shower facilities include electric hair dryer and shaver.  Other amenities are air-conditioning / heating units, flat screen T.V both in the bedroom as well as the living room with 16 international channels, direct dial telephones, room safe, and an internet connection (supplied on request at an extra cost). One also finds a fully equipped kitchen for those nights when one wishes to eat in.
Breakfast may also be booked at an extra charge.

Located in Xlendi, it is a 45 minute walk, 20 minute bicycle ride or 10 minute car/taxi/scooter ride away from the school. In the summer when many students are based in Xlendi they sometimes hire a car between them, thus having the added benefit of using same for 24 hours a day and so having increased mobility. Alternatively they could walk to Victoria (20 minutes) or get a bus (in summer only) and then get another bus that leaves Victoria for Kercem at 09.00 (5 minute ride – all year round). The bus stops less than a 3 minute walk from the school. Lessons start at 9.15. Upon clients’ request the school also organizes a min-bus from Xlendi each morning at a nominal charge (4 persons minimum).
 

 

Ulysses Apart hotel * * *

The Hotel Rooms, singles or doubles, are equipped with en suite bathrooms either with bath or shower.  Facilities include electric hairdryer and shavers. Other amenities are air-conditioning / heating units, flat screen T.V with 16 international channels, direct dial telephones, room safe, and an internet connection (supplied on request at an extra cost). Each Room accommodates up to 2 persons.

Beach View Hotel * * *

The 3-star 'Beach View Hotel' is located next to the sea front, overlooking the beautiful bay of Marsalforn. All the shops, restaurants, cafes and bars that line the front of Marsalforn Bay are just seconds away.

It has 19 rooms situated over 3 floors. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom, balcony, air-conditioning and offer a high standard of cleanliness, comfort and service. Other standard room facilities include TV/radio, telephone and hair-dryer.

Getting to School

Marsalforn is a 60 minute walk, 25 minute bicycle ride or 15 minute car/taxi/scooter ride away from the school. In the summer when many students are based in Marsalforn they sometimes hire a car between them, thus having the added benefit of using same for 24 hours a day and so having increased mobility. Alternatively they could walk to Victoria (35 minutes) and then get another bus that leaves Victoria for Kercem at 09.00 (5 minute ride – all year round). The bus stops less than a 3 minute walk from the school. Lessons start at 9.15. Upon clients’ request and only in peak season the school also organizes a min-bus from Marsalforn each morning at a nominal charge (4 persons minimum).
 

Downtown Hotel * * *

This forty-room, three star hotel, with superior rooms and facilities, is situated just off the centre of Victoria within easy walking distance from the bus terminus, the Citadel, the open air-market and numerous shops, bars and restaurants. All rooms include private bathrooms, TV, minibar, telephone, hair-dryer and air conditioning. Most of the rooms have balconies, some of them with spectacular scenic country views.

Getting to School

Victoria (Rabat) is a 30 minute walk, 15 minute bicycle ride or 10 minute car/taxi/scooter ride away from the school.  Alternatively you could take bus that leaves Victoria for Kercem at 09.00 (5 minute ride – all year round). The bus stops less than a 3 minute walk from the school.
 

San Andrea Hotel * * *

The San Andrea Hotel is a modern, comfortable, 28 bed-roomed hotel situated on the Xlendi shore-line. All bedrooms are equipped with direct dial telephones, Internet connection facilities and satellite televisions. They are also serviced with en suite bathrooms that have both bath and shower facilities and an electric hairdryer. Rooms are fully air conditioned with individually controlled temperatures. The hotel facilities include a residents' lounge, roof terrace and a restaurant and bar that stretch onto the promenade enjoying picturesque views of Xlendi Bay.

Grand Hotel * * * *

The Grand Hotel is ideally situated overlooking the fishing hamlet of Mgarr Harbour. The hotel enjoys panoramic views of Comino and Malta across the Gozo channel. All guest rooms are well furnished with ensuite bathroom, hairdryer, minibar, direct dial telephone, satellite T.V. and air-conditioning. Most rooms have balconies and all Superior Sea View rooms have large terrace patios with magnificent sea views. The family suites have two bedrooms sleeping four adults, bathrooms and a lounge with divan bed.

Mgarr  is a 75 minute walk, 30 minute bicycle ride or 15 minute car/taxi/scooter ride away from the school. Alternatively you could take a bus to Victoria,  and then get another bus that leaves Victoria for Kercem at 09.00 (5 minute ride – all year round). The bus stops less than a 3 minute walk from the school.
