Here lived such people as Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven. However, Vienna is not only history. New times has brought a modern breath to these old walls – new theatres, new art and new clubs. Vienna is located near the banks of the River Danube. A mass influx of tourists from all over the world has made this city the most popular destination of tourist travels to Austria. Thanks to efficient means of transport (tube, buses, trams) moving around the centre of Vienna as well as surrounding districts is fast and safe. Also going out to the city does not cause any major trouble – Vienna Forest is within 1 hour distance from the city. Generally in Austria the climate is mild and temperate. Actilingua – German language school

Since the school was established ,namely in 1988, Actilingua has gained an international renown as a private school with a professional course programme providing an ideal conditions to study as well as modern teaching materials. Certificates

Osterreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (OSD) – Austrian diploma from German language is acknowledged by Austrian authorities, has 120 examination centres and is recognised all over the world.

Zertifikat Deutsch – it is a combination of OSD certificates, Goethe Institute, WBT, and Freiburg University. The exam is widely recognised by employers as a proof of fluent knowledge of German language and increases the chances of being successful on the job market. The candidates can take the exam after graduating from level Elementary 2.

OSD-Mittelstufe- the exam is recognised by Austrian universities and some of German universities as fulfilling the conditions allowing to enter higher studies at the following universities. The candidates can take the exam after graduating from level Intermediate1.

Diplom Witschaftssprache Deutsch – it is recognised by Austrian Trade Chamber. It can be taken by the students who took part in conversations from the business field on level Intermediate 2.

Zertifikat Deutsch fur den Beruf – the candidates can receive this certificate after graduating from level Intermediate 2 and after a completion of 100-120 lessons of professional language course.

ActiLingua-Zertifikat – if a student attended the lessons regularly (at least 80% attendance) he or she can receive a certificate including the details about the type of the course, its duration, number of lessons as well as the topics discussed during the lessons.

CONDITIONS 1. Registration. All issues concerning registration and enrolling on the chosen type of course are dealt with at College of Foreign Languages “LEXIS”.

2. Resignation from the course

If a student resigns, for whatever reason, from taking part in a course he is obliged to issue payments concerning cancelling the booking of the course and accommodation: - If a resignation from the course takes place up to 21 days before the course starts, a resignation from the course is free of charge - If a resignation from the course takes place 20 or less days before the course starts the course participant is charged 198 € by the school. In case of informing the school about resignation from the course 3 or less days before the course starts, if resignation takes place during the course or in case of the absence of the course participant there is no refund. The course participant should inform the school about his/her resignation in a written form (by sending a letter or fax) If a person who has resigned from the course finds the other student for his/her place, he/she is only charged with 40 € by the school.

3. Insurance

School does not provide students with insurance in case of sickness, accidents, robberies, etc. It is recommended that the course participants buy insurance indvidually ( it is mandatory in case of the language courses for teenagers). You can buy accident insurance at LEXIS.

4. Liability

School is not liable for accidents and sickness that may happen to a student during the course. All devastation and damages for which the course participant is liable for are to be regulated directly with the aggrieved party. For the under aged students their parents or legal guardians are liable .

5. Cancelling the course by Actilingua

If the course participant despite being warned notoriously breaks the rules of the school or his behaviour is far from being appropriate, the school has a full right to cancel the course. Moreover, Actilingua is empowered to keep the payment for the rest of the course. Additional charges concerning the course participant’s misbehaviour and the process of cancelling the course are to be paid by the client.

6. Shortcomings

Student agrees to inform secretariat immediately about any kind of shortcomings and mistakes made by the school staff. School is obliged to immediate reaction to any kind of complaints and signs of dissatisfacion from the course participants.

7. National holiday

There are no lessons at Actilingua during national holiday.

8. Number of students in each group

Each group has to consist of at least 4 people while small groups have to consist of at least 2 people. If there is an insufficient number of the course participants, the school has a full right to call the course off or reduce number lessons by 25%.

The main goal of the course is to improve communication skills in German language. Lessons from the field of grammar and conversations are to help student in building syntax and expanding his vocabulary. Study of German language and work in Vienna
Actilingua offers study of German language in combination with gaining the experience which is free of charge. The programme consists of two parts. During the first part, a student attends German language course in Vienna at least for 4 weeks. Then a student starts working at one of carefully chosen Austrian companies, for example in a hotel, in a restaurant, travel office, ski school or a company dealing with import or export etc.
Students from the European Union, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland are paid for their job – around 290 € a month (40 hours a week). The whole course lasts minimum 8 weeks ( a 4 week language course + 8 week job). Accommodation and insurance is paid by the employer or the participant is given a higher salary respectively. The programme lasts maximum 52 weeks.
Administration fee in the case of the following course is 390 € (added to price of the course).

Evaluation and final resume of job results – reference issued by the employer

Attention: School does not guarantee finding specified post in a company combined with requirements regarding its location. If apprentice is not happy with his choice of work place the school returns 277 € of registration fee. Applications should be submitted 3 months at the latest before the programme of career practice starts.

German language course and study – paid internship
You may book a course for 4 months and internship for minimum 8 weeks. Representative of school or company in which you are going to work will carry out an interview with you so as to establish what are your expectations and to test your knowledge of German language. A given post and salary dependend on the level of your command of language as well as your skills. Earnings estimate around 290 € per week for 40 hours of work. During internship accommodation is paid by the employer or by you. However, in such a situation you earn more money respecitvely. Number of places at internship is limited, thus it is best to take care of all formalities well in advance. Usually employers expect a very good knowledge of German language. In case when you turn down all of the posts offered you get 277 € refund.

German language course and free of charge internship
Minimum duration of such course combined with free of charge internship is 8 weeks in total (4 weeks of study and 4 weeks of work). Participants of the programme are not paid. They also have to pay for accommodation and food by themselves (accommodation amounting to 155-210 € per week).

German language and music.
Vienna is a city where lived and composed such composers as for example Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert or Brahms. People who are interested in music or are students or graduates may have a unique opportunity to combine German language lessons with music lessons at Conservatory of Vienna. Following German language lessons (German in everyday situations 1 or standard course) student attends music lessons (singing lessons or guitar playing lessons).

COURSE DATES: Every Monday. Beginners as in the case of standard course.

ACCOMMODATION FOR COURSES FOR ADULTS

School staff is doing its best to make student enjoy his stay. Conditions of accommodation are regularly monitored. Moreover, school asks students for evaluation of their stay after it has come to an end. Booking of accommodation will enter into force from 12 am on Saturday before the course starts and is valid until Sunday after the course ends. School offers various forms of accommodation such as : homestay, hall of residence or hotel

Location, service and conditions.
· All places of accommodation for students are within around 10 to 20 minutes from school ( 40 minutes maximum). Thus getting to school by means of public transport is not a problem.
· All places of accommodation are available all year round
· It is possible to purchase meals in a form of breakfasts only or a half - full meal ( lunch usually from 12 am to 2 pm , evening meals from 6 pm to 8 pm) or decision to have self- catering
· Student receives the keys to an apartment after paying a deposit from 30 € to 100 €
· Price includes cleaning up the apartment (once a week)
· Bedclothes are changed every two weeks
· Student receives bedclothes while he is asked to bring his own towels with him
· Electricity and air –conditioning in Austria are more expensive than in other countries, thus school stipulates a possibility of charging an additional payment if the use of electricity and air-conditioning is higher than the average.
· Accommodation at the hotel is available depending on one’s needs

Homestay. It is the best way of accommodation for people who want to use their German language in practice and to get to know the life in Austria as best as they possibly can. Students live together with a family at their house. Both students and hosts may share a bathroom and the kitchen.

Meals. Student may choose between a meal consisting of abundant breakfast and half-full meal and dinner.

Apartment. Students live in a well kept apartment often shared with other Actilingua student. Apartments are available all year round. There are single or double rooms with shared bathroom. Most apartments also have its own washing machine, TV set or radio.

Meals. Price of the accommodation includes a chance to use the kitchen. The apartment consists of dishes and kitchen utensils.

Hotel. Students live in a well kept single or double rooms located in building segments with shared bathroom and kitchen.

Meals. Price of accommodation includes the use of the kitchen. There are kitchen annexes with full equipment in building segments.

Hall of residence. This form of accommodation is especially recommended to those people who value their own independence and want to be friends with Austrian students. Student gets his own room at convenient hall of residence. Most of rooms have a separate shower and a toilet.

Meals. Some of the rooms have the kitchen which students may use free of charge. However, they do have to cater for their own dishes. There is a possibility of purchasing breakfasts while half-full meal can only be purchased in summer season.

CULTURE AND ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMME

Culture programme offered by Actilingua as well as managing free afternoons and evenings not only allows to get to know every side of Vienna but also Austrian culture. It is included in price of the course.

Not only does school offer German language lessons but also creates an opportunity to gain many interesting information about Austria. For this reason, every language course in Actilingua includes additional 5 lessons devoted to cultural topics.

There are also organised special lectures, debates and video shows about music, art, literature, cuisine, history and architecture of Austria. Trips around Vienna, parties and sport activities also constitute a part of the programme.

Trips and leisure time. Evening activities programme includes going to opera, theatre, cinema or to concerts. School staff is eager to help in booking tickets as well as provide students with the information about “the night life” in Vienna. Sometimes weekends are devoted to meetings with nature and culture of Austria. School organises trips to Salzburg (“City of Mozart”), Graz (the capital city of Styria) or to Wachau region located in Danube valley. Students visit medieval castles, caves and famous architectural monuments.

SUMMER HOLIDAY CENTRE FOR TEENAGERS AGED FROM 12 TO 17 YEARS

The camp’s seat is a prestigious school founded by the empress Maria Therese. It provides the optimum study and recreational programme. The school is situated in the centre of Vienna and is located in former summer residence of King Charles VI, Maria Therese’s father. Students live in modern rooms shared with their peers from different parts of the world. Lessons take place in small, international groups. School provides full- board. After lessons students may use sport pitches or tennis courts. Teachers together with students take part in the programme of elective activities.
Lessons.
Lessons take place in small groups from Monday to Friday and cover classes from the field of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and comprehension. Focus is particularly on using a language in everyday situations, communication, language games as well as group work and couple work.
Accommodation and meals.

The Empress Maria Therese School

Summer residence (from 12 to 17 years)

All course participants (boys and girls separately) live in boarding school in spacious rooms for 4 to 6 people at school’s area. Rooms are allocated on the day of arrival. Any roommates wishes will be included as far as possible. In one room live people of the same age and of different nationalities. Each participant can eat 3 meals a day. They can eat both Austrian courses as well as international courses. Participants use bathrooms in the corridor.

They are provided with:

abundant breakfast consisting of bread, smoked meat, cheese, jam, tea, coffee or cocoa
lunches always consist of appetizers, hot first course and desert
usually hot dinner is served apart from the days when participants come back from trips late during the day. Sometimes grill evenings are organised as well.

Superior residence (16 years) is a residence of a higher standard. Rooms with a shower are shared between three participants. It is a form of accommodation for the course participants aged from 12 to 16 years who do not need 24 hour care but during a day would like to be with the other course participants. They attend the lessons together with the other course participants living in boarding school. Everyday we offer a rich recreation and sports programme at the school’s area. Students live in rooms for 2 or 3 people with a private bathroom and toilet. Any special wishes concerning roommate will be taken into consideration as far as possible. We are doing our best to put people of the same age and of different nationalities in one room. Each participant can eat 3 meals a day. They can eat both Austrian courses as well as international courses. At school’s residence breakfast and dinner consisting of two courses are offered. Lunch is eaten with the other course participants at school area.

Elective activities programme
SPORTS ACTIVITIES. School organises many sports activities such as: beach volley, football, table tennis, going to a swimming pool.
CREATIVE ACTIVITIES. Students have a chance to take part in handicraft, music, Viennese Waltz lessons, theatre workshops or pantomime.
OTHER ACTIVITIES. School’s staff organises different kinds of trips, movie projections, plays, games and entertainment, grill, discos, sightseeing the city, karaoke as well as welcome paries and goodbye parties.
FULL –DAY TRIPS. At weekends there are organised trips to famous places near Vienna.
Optional programme
TENNIS. For adepts of this sport are organised lessons in mini groups carried out by qualified coach. Tennis rockets are to be brought by the students themselves
VIENNA’S RARITIES This is an option for the people particularly interested in cultural attractions of Vienna. Ther e are organised trips to museum, different antique places, theatre, opera. Usually such trip takes half a day. Moreover, school provides tour guide, the guardian and entry ticket.
TRIPS. People who are interested in getting to know Austria may take part in trips to Salzburg or Rosenberg.
CONCERTS, MUSICALS, OPERAS. School’s staff is very eager to organise going to concerts, operas, musicals to famous theatres of Vienna.

SUMMER COURSE ( FROM 16 to 19 YEARS)
The course is for teenagers aged 16 to 19 years. Lessons takes place in Sacre Coeur school which is subordinate to Actilingua. The school is located near Actilingua and constitutes an ideal place for teenagers to spend their summer time. The school has spacious park and very good sports equipment at its disposal.
Courses:
Lessons take place in small groups consisting of 8 to 15 people from Monday to Friday.

Summer course 1: 25 lessons per week (including 5 lessons on culture)
Summer course 2: 35 lessons per week (including 5 lessons on culture)
Examination course: 6 lessons per week in addition to summer course 1 and 2
OSD exam: "Zertifikat Deutsch" for the course participants

ACCOMMODATION

Students live in double rooms at students residence which is perfectly suited for the needs of teenagers from all over the world.

LEISURE PROGRAMME

In the afternoons and the evenings foreign school offers additional activities programme. Culture and leisure entertainment take place 4 days a week and are included in price of the course.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES

Wide range of sports activities is available such as: football, basketball and beach volley

CULTURAL ENTERTAINMENT

Cultural entertainment consists among others of culture quiz, Viennese Waltz lessons or guided tour.

TRIPS

Trips (optional)

For those who want to know more about Austria school organises various kinds of trips among others to Salzburg, Wachau Danube Valley, Lake Neusiedl or 'Burg Kreuzenstein'.

CULTURAL EXTRAS

School also organises weekly trips to castles, palaces, museums, theatres, or to National Opera of Vienna. Guided trips ; supervision by staff’s representative as well as tickets included in the price.

PREPARATORY COURSE FOR ENTERING HIGHER STUDIES IN AUSTRIA

Programme ( 13 to 52 weeks)

The programme of preparatory course German language course, examination course and informational and organisational lessons, namely tutorials, carried out by Actilingua Academy Representative who helps in choosing the right school and helps in registration. In order to achieve a good level of German language, which is required to enter higher studies in Austria, very popular German language courses will be of great help. In addition, these courses cover “examination course” preparing you to achieve OESD certificate. Intermediate level (Österreichisches Sprachdiplom - Mittelstufe) is acknowledged by universities in Austria and some universities in Germany as a proof of good knowledge of German language. In addition, during 6 theoretical and 6 practical organisational and informational lessons, namely tutorials, you will gain many important information about studies in Austria.

Conditions necessary to enter higher studies in Austria:

having Baccalauerate ( certified translation of high school certificate needs to be submitted)
a proof of German language knowledge: OESD certificate Intermediate – OESD Mittelstufe: (graduating from preparatory course for entering university)
a proof of entering higher studies in the coutry:
o in the same field of study, which one intends to study in Austria
o for the same period of time one intends to study in Austria
students from China and Taiwan have to submit documents proving that they have studied with good marks in their home country for at least 2 years.

Academic year
Academic year in Austria lasts from October to June, winter semester from October to January, summer semester from March to June. For winter semester one can usually enroll from 1st of September onwards and on summer semester one can enroll from 1st of February onwards.

Universities
Studies at universities last for 4 years minimum. After graduating from higher studies one receives Master’s degree. In addition, one may enter P.h.D studies. There is also a possibility of registrating on higher studies for one semester or longer as “an unenrolled”.

Accommodation
During the course we offer accommodation with a host family, in rented houses with other course participants, at school residences, in a hotel. When you live with a family or at school residence you can book accommodation with breakfast, breakfast and lunch or dinner or accommodation without a meal with a possibility to use a kitchen. In rented houses there is a kitchen equipped with the most necessary kitchen utensils.

Once you have completed the course our representative will be pleased to inform you how to contact students organisation helping students to find hall of residence or students apartment which you may book at your will.

Application
If you would like to take part in preparatory course for entering university write to us so that we can send you an application form. Fill in an application form and send it back to us. While registering for the course you have to pay an instalment equalling a sum of 1 000 zloty . This in turn is counted off from total costs of the course which will be shown on the calculation print. We will send you registration confirmation, agreement and a bill immediately after receiving an instalment and an application.

Student visa
Citizens of the European Union as well as Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Switzerland are not required to have residence visa in Austria. Students from some of the countries need to have residence visa in Austria for longer than 3 months. Citizens of Turkey, Russia as well as Commonwealth of Independent States might have problems with getting a residence visa in Austria for longer than 3 months. We advise you to apply for visa for 3 months and after coming back to your home country to apply for a new residence visa.

Important information
At school there are internal rules which are obligatory and each student is obliged to obey them. The students will get acquainted with the rules of the school when the course starts. During registration of a new student school has to be informed about any health conditions requiring special care of a student or to adapt a special diet for him. Students are asked to bring a sufficien number and type of clothes with them (for example clothes protecting against the rain) as well as necessary equipment ( for example tennis rocket). Students may use laundry at school. The amount of pocket many student brings depends on his individual needs. Nevertheless, student is required to bring at least 37 € a week (phone calls, rides, entry tickets expenses).

Money, flight tickets and passports may be deposited by the course tutor. On the first day of the course students must subimit a document proving that they are insured and pay a deposit of 30 €. This amount of money will be returned to a student provided he does not do any damages at the school area.

The course participants may leave the school area on condition of having permission written by their parents or their legal guardians. Thus, school authorities ask parents, as long as it is in accordance with their wishes, for giving written permission so that their daughter or son may go by themselves in the afternoon or in the evening.

German language course at Austrian school (aged from 16 to 18 years):

Residence visa

How to become the Actilingua course participant ?

All issues concerning departure, booking, ride etc. may be dealt with personally or by correspondence with College of Foreign Languages “LEXIS” or by our Representative. After choosing the course, accommodation and other provisions you fill in application form, sign up an agreement and pay a right amount of money in zloty on our bank account “LEXIS”. You send us application form , one copy of an agreement and payment confirmation via e-mail or fax so that we get consignment 2 weeks before the course starts (people from other cities contact our Representative).

Before departure you receive from us:
-confirmation of admission to the course together with a proper letter for border authorities in Great Britain so that you do not have any problems entering Great Britain,
-flight ticket
– if departure is from Warsaw airport (people from other cities contact our Representative),
-confirmation of booking accommodation together with the address, telephone and short description of the host family,
-bill for provisions booked.
