Where can you find a

George Bernard Shaw claimed that the best and most proper English is
spoken in Ireland. There are many famous English - speaking authors
from Ireland, e.g. Yeats, Beckett, OCasey, Joyce - so this statement
is understandable.
Today modern and robust European country, Ireland still worships its
strong cultural and historic traditions. In reality, tradition and
modern times go together. Ireland is a safe, not very crowded
country with clear water and air. It makes Ireland a perfect place
for many sports and activities in the fresh air, such as fishing,
horse riding, sailing, golf and walks on the hills. There are also
many indoor social and cultural activities for those who are less
active.
SCHOOL OF ENGLISH in DUBLIN
 School
of English in Dublin was established in 1968 and is one of the best
schools teaching English as a foreign language. The Dublin School of English
has the acreditation of the Irish Education Department. The school
is situated in the centre of Dublin, on Westmoreland Street, just
next to Trinity College. It is a perfect location to get to know the
social and cultural life in Dublin. In the summer the classes are
held also in other institutions of the school, situated on the
suburbs of Dublin.
TEACHERS
English is
taught by experienced teachers who have TEFL qualifications TEFL (Teaching
English as a Foreign Language). Most of them has several years of
experience in teaching English abroad. Audio and video materials
available.
ACCOMMODATION
Participants
of the courses live with carefully chosen families on the suburbs of
Dublin. The representative of DSE visits every family to check the
conditions. Accommodation in single or double rooms (shared with
other participant of the course) depends on the type of the chosen
course. In the case of courses where there is accommodation in a
double room, you may book accommodation in a single room for
additional payment.
Possible is also accommodation in students' residences, youth
hostels, apartments or hotels.

In the case of standard
courses there are approximately 8-12 students in the group. There
are max. 12-15 students in the group, depending on the course and
the season. In the case of non-standard courses the number of people
in the group is not specified. Individual classes are also
available.

classes in the morning and individual classes in the
afternoon.
2 options are possible: in the case of HGA31/34
course the students have 31 lessons per week (from July to
September) or 34 lessons per week (from October to June), and,
in both courses, 10 individual classes per week.
In the case of HGA41/44 the students have 41
lessons per week (from July to September) or 44 lessons per
week (from October to June), and, in both courses, 20

other people. It is a programme perfect for persons who want to
get to know rich cultural heritage of Ireland.

This programme consists of 2
stages. Stage 1: 2 weeks of standard English course (24 lessons
per week), stage 2: 4 weeks of the course 6 lessons per week.
During first two weeks the employees of DSE organize job
interviews and help to find accommodation for a longer period of
time (the price of the course includes 2 first weeks of
accommodation only). The participants of the course usually work
in the touristic and services sector (restaurants, bars, hotels
etc.). They have to be over 18 and on intermadiate level of
English. PARTICIPANT HAS TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITHIN 3 MONTHS
AFTER THE END OF STAGE 1.

AFTER-CLASSES ACTIVITIES
After classes activities
are planned for all courses. They take place in the afternoons and
evenings as well as on weekends. These activities are: bus trips,
sightseeing, lectures and talks, movies, sports and others. It is
not a fully touristic programme, but we rather try to familiarize
the participants of the course with Irish culture and motivate them
to use the language in practice. These activities enable the
students meet the friends who learn English on various levels, which
has a positive influence on their communication skills.
After - classes
activities are included in the price of the course but you have to
remember that if the language classes interfere with after-classes
activities, language classes have priority.

INSURANCE
We recommend to buy insurance for the time of journey
and staying abroad. "LEXIS"
offers WARTA Travel Insurance in the case of an illness or an
accident. All issues connected with insurance for the time of the
journey and stay may be set at College of Foreign Languages "LEXIS".
How to become a student at the
Dublin School of English?
All issues concerning the
course, booking, arrival, journey etc. may be settled in person or
by mail at College of Foreign Languages "LEXIS"
or with our Representative. When you choose the course,
accommodation and other services you are asked to fill in the
application form, sign the contract and pay the agreed amount in PLN
on our bank account "LEXIS".
The application form, one copy of the contract and confirmation of
payment should be sent to us by mail or fax, so that we receive it 2
weeks before the course starts (persons from other towns contact our
Representative).
Before you
leave you will receive:
· confirmation of the admission to the course together
with a special letter for the border authorities in Great Britain so
that you do not have any problems entering Great Britain,
· ticket for your journey - if you leave from Warsaw (persons
leaving from other cities in Poland contact our Representative),
ˇ confirmation of the booking of your accommodation together with
the address, telephone and short characteristic of the host family,
ˇ bill for all services you paid for.
