SCHOOL OF ENGLISH
in DUBLIN
 The
School of English in Dublin was established in 1968 and is one of
the best schools teaching English as a foreign language. The Dublin
School of English has the accreditation of the Irish Education
Department. The school is situated in the centre of Dublin, on
Westmoreland Street, just next to Trinity College. It is a perfect
location to get to know the social and cultural life in Dublin. In
the summer the classes are held also in other institutions of the
school, situated on the suburbs of Dublin.
TEACHERS
English is
taught by experienced teachers who have TEFL qualifications TEFL
(Teaching English as a Foreign Language). Most of them has several
years of experience in teaching English abroad. Audio and video
materials are standard teaching aids.
ACCOMMODATION
Participants
of the courses live with carefully chosen families on the suburbs of
Dublin. The representative of DSE visits every family to check the
conditions. Accommodation in single or double rooms (shared with
other participant of the course) depends on the type of the chosen
course. In the case of courses where there is accommodation in a
double room, you may book accommodation in a single room for
additional payment.
Possible is also accommodation in students' residences, youth
hostels, apartments or hotels.

The Home Stay Programme is designed for those who do not wish to
take a formal English course. The Dublin School of English will
arrange accommodation in an Irish family for whatever number of
weeks you require (minimum one week).
Booking a
homestay gives you the assurance of having quality
accommodation that has been inspected by the School.
Participants will also be able to take part in the tour and
excursion programme organised by the School at no extra charge.
The
programme is based in Dublin and consists of guided tours and
excursions to places of historical or cultural interest in
Ireland, visits to popular tourist attractions in Dublin and
suburbs, social evening of Irish Music and sporting events
organised in the various centres of the School.
The
programme is and ideal way for someone to experience the rich
cultural and historical heritage of Ireland.
The
programme operates throughout the year. The minimum age for the
HomeStay Programme is 18 years. Family units with younger
children will be accepted on this programme.

This programme starts with a two week English
language programme with accommodation (bed and breakfast) in a
tourist hostel. Where hostel accommodations is unavailable,
accommodation may be arranged in a host family.
During this
time we arrange for the student to attend interviews or advise
him/her to go to certain possible employers where he/she will be
interviewed for work. It is important that the student presents
a good attitude at these interviews as this will influence
whether or not he/she will be offered employment. One offer
employment is included under this programme. The student must
commit to working for a minimum of three months in the job we
find for them. Turing down the offer is not permitted.
Employment is usually in the hospitality or service sector. A
further four weeks of English Language course is included after
two first weeks.
The initial
cost of this programme covers tuition at 24 lessons per week per
week for a further 4 weeks and 2 weeks of accommodation. After
this period the participant attends classes optionally at a rate
of 200 Euro per four week period. The Co-Curricular Programme of
the school is also included in the course.
Our programme
co-ordinator provides assistance to students looking for their
own accommodation. As participants are expected to spend some
time in Dublin, it is better for them to locate medium to long
term accommodation themselves e.g. sharing an apartment or house
with other student.
Participant
must have a minimum of intermediate level English and some
experience in the hospitality industry. The minimum age for this
course is 18 years. This course may only be commenced in the
period October to June.

aimed at university students and young professionals looking to
obtain real work experience in a company in Ireland. Our aim is
to place the client in a company that is relevant to his/her
training and/or profession.
We have placed
people in a wide range of areas such as Marketing,
Administration, banking, Finance, Tourism, Law, Engineering and
so on. We have placed politics graduates in a politicians office
in the Irish Parliament in Northern Irish Assembly, an engineer
in a commercial wood/timber research unit in one of the
universities in Dublin, and a computer programmer in the Garda
(Irish Police) Headquarters working on a national IT project.
Applicants should have minimum upper intermediate level (TOEFL
500) or equivalent. Please note that this is an unpaid
programme. People looking for a paid programme may look at our

AFTER-CLASSES ACTIVITIES
After classes activities
are planned for all courses. They take place in the afternoons and
evenings as well as on weekends. These activities are: bus trips,
sightseeing, lectures and talks, movies, sports and others. It is
not a fully tourist programme, but we rather try to familiarize
the participants of the course with Irish culture and motivate them
to use the language in practice. These activities enable the
students meet the friends who learn English on various levels, which
has a positive influence on their communication skills.
After - classes
activities are included in the price of the course but you have to
remember that if the language classes interfere with after-classes
activities, language classes have priority.
INSURANCE
We recommend to buy insurance for the time of journey
and staying abroad. LEXIS offers WARTA Travel Insurance in the case of an illness or an
accident. All issues connected with insurance for the time of the
journey and stay may be set at College of Foreign Languages LEXIS.
How to become a student at the
Dublin School of English?
All issues concerning the course,
booking, arrival, journey etc. may be settled in person or by mail
at College of Foreign Languages LEXIS or with our Representative. When you choose the course,
accommodation and other services you are asked to fill in the
application form, sign the contract and pay the agreed amount in PLN
on our bank account LEXIS. The
application form, one copy of the contract and confirmation of
payment should be sent to us by mail or fax, so that we receive it 2
weeks before the course starts (persons from other towns contact our
Representative).
Before you
leave you will receive:
· confirmation of the admission to the course together
with a special letter for the border authorities in Great Britain so
that you do not have any problems entering Great Britain,
· ticket for your journey - if you leave from Warsaw (persons
leaving from other cities in Poland contact our Representative),
ˇ confirmation of the booking of your accommodation together with
the address, telephone and short characteristic of the host family,
ˇ bill for all services you paid for.
